Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Gewürztraminer Turckheim 2022
Domaine Zind-Humbrecht · Domaine Zind-Humbrecht
This is Gewürztraminer at its most generous without tipping into cloying territory. Olivier Humbrecht's biodynamic farming and low yields produce a wine where perceived sweetness comes from phenolic ripeness and glycerol, not residual sugar. An ideal bottle for demonstrating that 'sweet on the nose' and 'sweet on the palate' are two different things.
Nose
Intense lychee and rose petal leap from the glass, followed by ginger, honeycomb, and a note of ripe melon. A subtle smokiness and waxy quality add complexity beneath the aromatic fireworks.
Palate
Rich and almost oily in texture, with honey and tropical fruit giving a generous sense of sweetness — though the wine is technically dry or off-dry. Citrus acidity provides essential counterbalance. Notes of marzipan and white pepper emerge on the mid-palate, adding savory depth.
Finish
Long and gently spiced, with rose and honey fading to a clean mineral note.

Food Pairing
Thai green papaya salad with crushed peanuts, lime, and chili — the wine's aromatic richness and trace of sweetness tame the chili heat, while its acidity matches the lime dressing.

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht Pinot Gris Clos Windsbuhl 2022
Domaine Zind-Humbrecht
Clos Windsbuhl is a monopole site on limestone-rich Muschelkalk soils in Hunawihr, and its wines always carry a tension between richness and minerality. The 2022 vintage captures this duality perfectly — the warmth of the year gives generous fruit, but the terroir's limestone backbone refuses to let the wine become lazy. Olivier Humbrecht's biodynamic approach and non-interventionist winemaking let the vineyard's personality fill the interval between vine and glass.

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht
Olivier Zind-Humbrecht was the first Frenchman to earn the Master of Wine title, but his true revolution happened in the vineyard, converting the entire domaine to biodynamic farming.

Domaine des Roches Neuves Saumur Blanc Terres Chaudes 2023
Domaine des Roches Neuves
Thierry Germain's biodynamically farmed Chenin Blanc from the Terres Chaudes parcel delivers a wine where the tuffeau limestone substrate is as much a character as the grape. Wood plays virtually no role here — the expression is all terroir, acid, and fruit. A white wine for those who believe restraint is its own form of generosity.

Donnafugata Ben Ryé Passito di Pantelleria DOC 2022
Donnafugata
Ben Ryé is Italy's most celebrated passito, made from Zibibbo grapes sun-dried on the wind-blasted volcanic island of Pantelleria. The heat of the African-influenced climate concentrates sugars, but Donnafugata's meticulous winemaking preserves acidity and freshness. A dessert wine that transcends the category.

Domaine Leflaive Mâcon-Verzé 2022
Domaine Leflaive
Domaine Leflaive's Mâcon-Verzé is a masterclass in value from one of Burgundy's most respected white wine producers. The biodynamic farming and careful winemaking bring a precision to Mâconnais Chardonnay that elevates it well beyond its appellation. For those priced out of Puligny, this is the door in.

Chablis Premier Cru Fourchaume 2022
Domaine William Fèvre
This is essence before ornament made manifest in a glass. Where many Chablis producers chase richness or oak influence, William Fèvre's Fourchaume 2022 trusts the terroir to do the talking. The Kimmeridgian fossil-studded limestone shines through with uncompromising clarity. Alongside the issue's other selections — the unadorned honesty of Old Bardstown Estate, the single-estate purity of Tequila Ocho, the stripped-back integrity of Benromach Organic — this Chablis reminds us that the most eloquent wines are those that get out of the way of what the earth has already said.
