Springbank 18 Year Old

Springbank · Springbank Distillery

92 proof18 YearCampbeltown, Scotland
Springbank 18 is a distillery benchmark — proof that Campbeltown's last independent family-owned distillery still does everything in-house and does it brilliantly. The interplay of fruit, smoke, and coastal character is impossible to replicate anywhere else.

Kit Aromas

Tasting Notes

Nose

Dried apricot and orange marmalade over a base of beeswax and salted caramel. Faint coastal peat adds a savory undertone without dominating.

Palate

Silky and layered, with honeyed malt, dark chocolate, and roasted hazelnuts. A gentle smokiness rises at mid-palate, flanked by clove and dried fig.

Finish

Exceptionally long, with waves of dried fruit, vanilla, and maritime salinity fading slowly.

The Story

Springbank remains one of the very few Scottish distilleries that malts its own barley, distills two-and-a-half times, and bottles on-site — all within the same Campbeltown facility the Mitchell family has operated since 1828.

Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14 Year Old

Glenmorangie

A masterclass in how a secondary wood finish can transform a spirit. Glenmorangie's signature elegance meets the inner skin of port-seasoned casks in a marriage that feels deeply intentional. The 14-year maturation in ex-bourbon barrels builds the framework, but it's the extra-maturation in hand-selected ruby port pipes that paints the portrait — all plum, chocolate, and velvety tannin. For the theme of where wood meets spirit, this bottle is practically a thesis statement.

Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Glenfarclas

Glenfarclas 105 is a sherry-bomb at cask strength that never loses its composure. The heat is substantial but well-integrated, rewarding the patient sipper who adds a few drops of water. For a non-age-statement whisky, the depth of flavor suggests significant maturation.

Deanston Virgin Oak Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Deanston

By finishing in new American oak rather than used casks, Deanston lets the raw timber speak alongside its signature unpeated malt character. The result is a whisky where the wood's influence is transparent and direct. An excellent illustration of how barrel choice shapes a spirit from the inside out.

Benromach Contrasts: Organic Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Benromach

Benromach's organic bottling proves that starting with pure ingredients and traditional floor maltings yields a whisky of uncommon clarity. It's not a powerhouse — it's a window into what barley tastes like when nothing gets in the way. A terrific introductory Speyside that rewards contemplation.
