Midleton Very Rare 2022

Midleton Very Rare · Midleton Distillery

80 proofNASCork, Ireland
The 2022 vintage continues Midleton's tradition of restrained blending. Former master distiller Kevin O'Gorman composed this release to emphasize the interplay between grain sweetness and pot still character. It's a whiskey that rewards patience — the complexity unfolds slowly and deliberately in the glass.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Delicate and layered, with honeycomb and ripe peach meeting vanilla custard and a whisper of almond. A gentle floral lift of rosewater adds elegance, followed by light toasted oak.

Palate

Silky and measured, with buttery grain leading into dried fruit and a touch of clove spice. The pot still component provides a waxy, green apple note that anchors the sweetness. Woody tannins emerge late, adding structure.

Finish

Medium-long with lingering vanilla, peach, and a refined woody dryness.
