Boone County 1833 Select Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Boone County · Boone County Distilling Co.

Boone County's 1833 Select shows what happens when you let good bourbon reach its moment without rushing it. At six years, the oak integration is confident without being aggressive. It's a workhorse sipper with enough complexity to reward slow evenings.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Rich caramel and toasted oak lead, followed by a thread of dried cherry and soft leather. Beneath that, a faint maple sweetness and a whisper of dark cocoa emerge with patience.

Palate

Medium-to-full body with a buttery entry. Brown spices and vanilla dominate mid-palate, framed by charred oak and a pleasant corn sweetness. A nudge of rye spice keeps it alert.

Finish

Long and warming, tapering with butterscotch and a dry oak note that lingers comfortably.

Cocktail Suggestion

Copper Twilight — 2 oz Boone County 1833 Select · 0.75 oz sweet vermouth · 0.25 oz Amaro Nonino · 2 dashes orange bitters · Stir over ice, strain into coupe, express orange peel.

Food Pairing

Smoked pork belly bites with a maple-chipotle glaze. The sweet smoke of the pork meets the bourbon's charred oak and caramel, while the chipotle heat plays off the rye spice.

The Story

Built on the bones of a pre-Prohibition distillery site in northern Kentucky, Boone County Distilling Co. was revived in 2015 by a family determined to return whiskey-making to the county that once housed more distilleries than any other in the state.
