Ben Nevis 10 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Ben Nevis · Ben Nevis Distillery

92 proof10 YearFort William, Scottish Highlands, Scotland
Named for Britain's highest peak, Ben Nevis operates in relative obscurity compared to its Highland neighbors, but its robust house style rewards attention. The 10-year-old bottled at 46% without chill filtration delivers a rugged, textural dram that stands apart from polished, lighter Highland malts. A distillery that earns its reputation one cask at a time.

Tasting Notes

Nose

A waxy, malty opening with notes of baked peach and honey. Underneath sits a gentle earthiness, dried fruit, and a faint hint of orange zest that develops with air.

Palate

Full-bodied and slightly oily, with caramel, hazelnut, and clove spice driving the mid-palate. A secondary wave of malt and dried fruit adds density without becoming heavy.

Finish

Medium-long with woody tannins, lingering hazelnut, and a wisp of smoke.

Food Pairing

The malty, nutty profile of the whisky complements the gamey richness of pheasant, while the clove spice echoes the warm aromatics of the stuffing.

The Story

Distilled at the foot of Scotland's tallest mountain in Fort William, Ben Nevis has operated since 1825, drawing its water from the Allt a'Mhuilinn stream that cascades down the mountain's north face.
