Chalong Bay Pure Series Original
Chalong Bay · Chalong Bay Distillery
A quietly confident white rum that trades the funk of Caribbean pot stills for a serene, aromatic clarity — an ideal introduction to non-Antillean cane-juice distillation and a versatile cocktail base with genuine terroir.
Nose
Freshly pressed sugarcane leads, layered with white flowers, cucumber skin, wet grass, and a whisper of green banana. There's a saline lift and a hint of lemongrass that anchors the aromatics in Southeast Asia.
Palate
Silky and restrained on entry — sugarcane sap, green apple, sweet basil, and a mineral, almost coastal salinity. Mid-palate reveals subtle white pepper, jasmine rice steam, and lime pith, with none of the heat or sharpness common to unaged cane spirits.
Finish
Clean, elegant, and softly herbaceous, with lingering grassy sweetness and a fresh mint-leaf coolness that fades slowly rather than burns.
- Base Ingredient
- Fresh-pressed sugarcane juice from Phuket-grown cane
- Distillation
- Single distillation in a small hand-hammered copper Charentais-style column still; unaged, rested in stainless steel before bottling
- Country
- Phuket, Thailand
Cocktail Suggestion
Andaman Stillness — 2 oz Chalong Bay Pure Series Original, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz lemongrass-ginger syrup, 3 kaffir lime leaves (lightly clapped). Shake with ice, double-strain into a chilled coupe, garnish with a single floating lime leaf.
Food Pairing
Green papaya salad (som tam) with dried shrimp, or grilled prawns with a nam jim seafood dipping sauce — the rum's herbal minerality lifts chili heat and echoes the citrus-lemongrass palette of Thai cuisine.
Founded in 2012 by a French-Thai team who transported a hand-hammered copper column still from Charentes to Phuket, Chalong Bay ferments and distills only fresh-cut sugarcane from the island's rainy season, one small batch at a time.

Jura 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Jura
Jura 10 is an island malt that sidesteps the peat-bomb stereotype entirely. Its restraint is its strength — a whisky shaped by geography rather than process, tasting of the rain and wind that batter its remote island home. Ideal as a gateway to island Scotch.

Noah's Mill Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey
Noah's Mill
Noah's Mill is barrel-proof bourbon without apology. Its intensity rewards patience — a splash of water opens the caramel and softens the leather into something rich and contemplative. A serious sipper for those who want their bourbon to push back.

Crossbill Highland Dry Gin
Crossbill
Crossbill is a gin that refuses to compromise on juniper. Using only Scottish juniper berries and rosehip, it delivers one of the most juniper-forward profiles available — a gin built for G&T purists and Martini devotees who want the pine to sing. It tastes like the Scottish Highlands in a glass.

Rhum Clément Select Barrel Rhum Agricole
Clément
Clément Select Barrel is an excellent entry point into aged agricole rhum. The barrel aging tames the raw grassy intensity without erasing it, creating a spirit that bridges the gap between agricole purists and aged rum lovers. At its price, it's one of the best values in the category.

Clairin Communal Sajous Ansyen 49 Mois
Clairin
Michel Sajous grows his own sugarcane — a rare practice even among clairin producers — and this 49-month aged expression shows how Haitian rum transforms with time in barrel. The wild, untamed character of clairin remains, but the oak provides architecture. This is terroir-driven rum at its most expressive.

Novo Fogo Two Years Barrel-Aged Cachaça
Novo Fogo
A benchmark for accessible aged cachaça: bright enough for a Caipirinha upgrade, structured enough for neat sipping. It rewards drinkers curious about how minimal oak influence can sharpen rather than mask a cane spirit's identity.

Foursquare Exceptional Cask Selection Mark XXIV 'Equipoise'
Foursquare
Richard Seale continues to set the standard for unadulterated Barbadian rum with this release. Equipoise earns its name — it's 60% ABV but drinks with a composure that belies the proof. The interplay of pot and column still distillates gives it both weight and elegance. A serious rum for serious drinkers.
