Andrea Franchetti's flagship Etna red is a bold statement of volcanic terroir. This blend of Petit Verdot and Cesanese d'Affile grown on Etna's lava soils creates something genuinely unique — a wine of power and place. It demands cellaring but already rewards decanting.
Kit Aromas
Nose
Intense dark cherry and blackcurrant lead, layered with violet, crushed herbs, and a distinctive volcanic mineral note. A cedar and leather undertone emerges with time in the glass.
Palate
Powerful and structured, with concentrated dark fruit, black pepper, and graphite. The tannins are firm but polished, and there is a savory herbal quality — rosemary, thyme — that gives the wine its distinctive Mediterranean character.
Finish
Long and layered, with lingering dark fruit, cedar, and a smoky mineral tail.
