Gut Oggau Theodora 2022
Gut Oggau · Gut Oggau
Gut Oggau's Theodora is a quietly radical wine — biodynamic farming, native yeasts, minimal sulfur — yet it never shouts. It embodies the theme of circles within craft: each vintage returns to the same ancestral vineyards and the same patient philosophy, producing something familiar yet wholly alive. An approachable entry point into one of Austria's most thoughtful natural wine estates.
Nose
An inviting bouquet of white peach, chamomile, and crushed limestone opens gently. Beneath these primary notes sit whispers of beeswax, dried herbs, and a savory yeast-bread quality that hints at the wine's natural fermentation origins.
Palate
The palate is textured and lively, offering ripe golden apple and honeyed citrus alongside a saline, almost chalky minerality. There is a subtle creaminess from skin contact balanced by bright acidity, with flavors of toasted almond and melon rind weaving through the mid-palate.
Finish
Medium-length and refreshingly dry, closing on notes of bitter almond, wet stone, and a lingering honeyed warmth that invites the next sip.

Food Pairing
Whole roasted cauliflower drizzled with nutty brown butter, scattered with toasted hazelnuts and a squeeze of lemon. The wine's honeyed texture and almond undertones mirror the butter and nuts, while its acidity cuts through the caramelized edges of the vegetable.
Named after a member of the fictional Oggau family that personifies each cuvée, Theodora represents the estate's gentle matriarch — a wine of warmth, wisdom, and cyclical return to the land that Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe-Eselböck farm biodynamically on the western shore of Lake Neusiedl.

Feudi di San Gregorio Fiano di Avellino DOCG 2023
Feudi di San Gregorio
Fiano di Avellino is one of southern Italy's noblest white grapes, and Feudi di San Gregorio has been its most consistent ambassador. The 2023 delivers the grape's signature interplay of fruit richness and mineral tension at a price that makes it an easy recommendation. A serious food wine that punches well above its weight.

Pieropan Soave Classico Calvarino 2022
Pieropan
Calvarino is Pieropan's demonstration that Soave can be a wine of real complexity and ageability. The 2022 vintage captures the vineyard's volcanic character with precision, delivering a wine that overperforms its modest price point by a wide margin. This is the kind of bottle that converts Soave skeptics.

Graci Etna Bianco DOC 2023
Graci
Alberto Ferrara's Graci estate farms pre-phylloxera vines at high altitude on Etna's north slope, producing wines of remarkable tension and purity. The 2023 Etna Bianco from Carricante grapes delivers volcanic terroir in the glass — mineral, saline, and vibrating with energy. This is one of Italy's great white wine values.

Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair Bourgogne Blanc Les Charmes 2023
Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair
Thibault Liger-Belair is better known for his Nuits-Saint-Georges reds, but this Bourgogne Blanc demonstrates the same meticulous farming and minimal intervention approach. It's an honest Chardonnay that lets the limestone soils of Burgundy speak clearly. Outstanding value.
