Marchesi di Barolo Barbaresco DOCG 2020

Marchesi di Barolo

NASBarbaresco, Piedmont, Italy
Marchesi di Barolo is one of Piedmont's oldest estates, and their Barbaresco shows why Nebbiolo from this commune tends toward elegance over power. The 2020 vintage was warm but this wine retains balance and aromatic complexity. A serious Barbaresco at a remarkably fair price.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Red cherry and dried rose dominate, with a savory undercurrent of dried herbs and a gentle tar note. Beneath the fruit there's a faint violet perfume and a suggestion of toasted hazelnut.

Palate

Medium-bodied with bright cherry acidity, the tannins are firm but finely grained. A flash of mint lifts the mid-palate, while cedar and earthy notes add weight and structure.

Finish

Long and savory, with lingering cherry, dried floral notes, and a clean mineral close.
