Domaine de la Côte Pinot Noir La Côte 2022

Domaine de la Côte

Sta. Rita Hills, California, USA
Rajat Parr and Sashi Moorman's estate bottling from their Sta. Rita Hills vineyard captures the cool, wind-swept character of the site with precision. The 2022 vintage adds a touch more generosity than some cooler years without sacrificing the nervous energy that defines this wine. Burgundian in ambition, Californian in its sun-kissed fruit purity.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Lifted wild strawberry and cherry blossom with a saline, almost coastal minerality. Beneath the fruit sits dried herbs, a trace of turned earth, and a delicate rose petal note that emerges with air.

Palate

Featherweight yet persistent. The palate delivers cherry and cranberry fruit with a chalky, fine-grained tannin structure. There's a savory undercurrent — dried thyme, iron — and a quiet cedar note from restrained oak use. Acidity is bright and driving.

Finish

Long and tensile, with lingering cherry, floral notes, and a mineral salinity that lingers on the tongue.

Serve & Pair

Food Pairing

The wine's cherry fruit and delicate tannins complement the richness of seared duck breast, while the cherry gastrique mirrors the fruit on the palate. Serve with a side of sautéed wild mushrooms.

The Story

Rajat Parr and Sashi Moorman planted Domaine de la Côte in the far western reaches of the Sta. Rita Hills, one of the coldest vineyard sites in Santa Barbara County, to pursue a Burgundian vision of California Pinot Noir.
