Long Pond TECC 2010
Habitation Velier · Long Pond Distillery
A textbook exhibit for the 'Structure Before Sweetness' thesis: proof, esters, and tropical oak doing all the heavy lifting, with zero added sugar to blur the architecture. Essential for the serious Jamaican rum drinker.
Nose
A bracing lift of overripe banana, varnish, and green olive brine opens into deeper notes of dunder-pit funk, dried mango, and struck flint. Beneath the ester storm sits toasted oak, tobacco leaf, and a whisper of black tea.
Palate
Bone-dry and structurally taut — no sugar to hide behind. Waves of tropical fruit (guava, pineapple skin), then leather, black pepper, salted licorice, and a persistent hydrocarbon-like mineral streak. The tropical aging has integrated the wood without softening the ester attack.
Finish
Long, drying, and savory. Fading esters give way to bitter cacao, walnut skin, and a lingering saline edge that pulls you back for another sip.

Dakabend Oaxacan Pot Still Rum
Dakabend
Dakabend is a testament to what happens when Oaxacan craft tradition — the same patient, hands-on culture that gave us artisanal mezcal — turns its attention to sugarcane. This is rum stripped to its essential truth: pot-distilled, unaged, and uncompromising. A spirit that earns your trust sip by sip through sheer transparency of process and place.
